"The goal of the Department of Geological Sciences at Brown University is excellence in both
teaching and research. Undergraduate students enjoy small class sizes in modern teaching
facilities and even in their first year have the opportunity to get involved in cutting-edge
research. In the graduate program, faculty in the Department of Geological Sciences train the
next generation of young scientists to deal with geological issues and to help define the
