CSUF College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics:
|
The CSUF College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics (NSM) is dedicated to the principle that teaching and research are intricately mixed and that undergraduate research, when properly approached, is an integral part of teaching. This fine balance between teaching and research is NSM's greatest strength. Through the combination of quality instruction, student involvement in research and strong academic advisement, NSM provides its students with the best education possible. The college offers through its departments and programs, undergraduate degrees in all disciplines and Master's degrees in biological science, chemistry, biochemistry, geology, physics and mathematics. Each year the college graduates an average of 350 students with undergraduate degrees and 50 students with Master's degrees.

CSFU Department of Geological Sciences:
|
The advancement of learning is central to the mission of the Department of Geological Sciences at California State University, Fullerton. The primary goal of the department is to provide an environment conducive to the highest quality teaching, learning, and scholarship. Our department grants undergraduate and Master’s graduate degrees, where students have access to a dedicated faculty with a variety of skills and interests, including structural geology, seismology, geomorphology, sedimentology, engineering geology, hydrology, paleoclimatology, igneous petrology, and volcanology. Undergraduate and graduate geology curriculums emphasize field-based learning opportunities as well as laboratory research experiences. Under the guidance of an advisor, all undergraduate students complete an original research project (undergraduate thesis) on a topic that interests them. Geological science students further expand their learning experience by attending the CSUF Geology Field Camp, located in SW Montana.
The Department of Geological Sciences includes 11 full time faculty, 16 adjunct or emeritus faculty, 4 staff members, 30 graduate students, and 50 undergraduate majors. We are located on the second floor of McCarthy Hall on the California State University, Fullerton campus. McCarthy Hall adjoins the newly constructed Science Laboratories Center building, which is a well-equipped facility for a variety of natural sciences that allows students to examine rock samples in detail via petrographic microscopes, a scanning electron microscope, X-ray equipment, and stable isotope analysis.
