QUESTION:

Is Krakatau "East of Java" as the movie title says ?

ANSWER:

No. While First Point lighthouse on the far west end of Java, is approximatly 70 kilometers (45 miles) south-southwest of Krakatau, the majority of the Island of Java is east-southeast of Krakatau. -- From: Newhall and Dzurisin, 1988, USGS Bulletin 1855, and Simkin and Fiske, 1983, Smithsonian Institution, map on p.24-25.
