Geologic setting of the Three-Sisters-Mount Bachelor area within the upper Miocene to Holocene High Cascades (stippled border). The Western Cascades are composed of upper Eocene to middle Miocene volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks. The parts of the Columbia Plateau and Basin and Range physiographic provinces shown on the map are composed dominantly of Tertiary volcanic and sedimentary rocks; Quaternary volcanic rocks cover most of the area near Newberry volcano. ...
